BP is Encouraging Flexible Working in the Post-Pandemic Marketplace

Many brands the world over have had to adjust the way they facilitate work in order to remain relevant and productive during the global COVID-19 crisis.

Perhaps the most notable of these transformations has been the shift to more flexible working patterns and the ability for staff to work remotely from home where possible and practical.

So successful has the switch to remote working been, that many workers have expressed an interest in continuing the practice even after the pandemic has been consigned to the history books. In fact, a large proportion have even gone on the record to state they would seriously consider looking for another job if their present employer wouldn’t allow them to continue working remotely.

BP has recognised this desire and has put plans in place to allow 25,000 of its employees to work from home two days out of the week as part of its post-pandemic labour strategy. The transformation is expected to affect 6,000 BP staff right here in the UK and more than 2,000 in our nation’s capital.

“The company will be changing and reconfiguring its offices over time, to support collaboration and create more flexible environments to hold meetings and share ideas,” said a BP spokesperson. “Some roles will require people to be in the office or their prime location every day, and some roles will require greater travel or connecting digitally with colleagues, with less time in the office. There may also be some colleagues who prefer working in the office more.”
