Bureau Veritas and Shell Complete Supply Chain Resilience Pilot Project
Fuel supply chains have been hitting the news for the last week or so as UK petrol stations struggle to meet demand. Labour shortages caused by post-Brexit immigration regulations have been largely blamed for the situation as motorists up and down the country find prices being driven up and pumps running dry.
Supply chain resilience is therefore top of the agenda for energy brands and France-based certification company, Bureau Veritas has recently completed the first pilot study of its Supply-R project with fossil fuel giant, Shell.
Supply-R was launched in 2020 with the expressed goal of testing business continuity and supply chain resilience. This is achieved through a bespoke digital platform and supply chain risk management solution designed to identify weaknesses in the supply chain and suggest ways they might be addressed.
“Our existing assets today and our projects that build tomorrow, all require a supply chain that can deliver, safely and competitively,” said General Manager of Systems Engineering and Global Head of Engineering Management and Quality at Shell, James Haug. “At Shell, by leveraging digitalization of processes across our worldwide operations and using a holistic methodology, we can optimise risk management processes and manage our supply chain at a global level.”
