Diageo Launches Value Chain Inclusion and Diversity Framework
British multinational beverage alcohol company, Diageo launched its Society 2030 plan – a 10-year action plan to help create an inclusive and sustainable world – which includes a commitment to doubling its global spend with diverse owned and operated businesses by 2025.
Dubbing the initiative, The Value Chain Inclusion and Diversity Framework, the company wants to ensure inclusion and diversity are embedded in its value chain. This will involve Diageo working closely with suppliers and agencies to advance positive, sustainable economic impact in the diverse communities from which it sources its supplies.
Diageo considers diverse suppliers to be those with a majority [at least 51%] ownership and operation by an individual or group which is part of a traditionally underrepresented group such as women, LGBT+, disabled, veteran, or ethnic minorities.
“Supplier Diversity is our proactive business plan that promotes the use of suppliers that are at least 51% owned and operated by a traditionally underrepresented people or group,” said Diageo. “Our objective is to accelerate inclusion and diversity in our value chain measuring and increasing the percentage of diverse owned and operated suppliers year on year. Our ambition is to be recognized externally for our contribution to having a positive economic impact on diverse suppliers across the world”
