BP is Seeing the Benefits of Supplier Diversity with a Slew of Awards

03/31/2022

Ever since the establishment of the US Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Framework for Action, energy giant, BP has been committed to diversifying its supply chain and promoting a culture of inclusivity, equity, and diversity across its entire operation.

Not only does this policy boost the economy of every country in which BP operates but also ensures a prosperous future for traditionally underrepresented groups in the communities of those regions. These efforts have not gone unrecognised either as in October 2021, BP’s US Supplier Diversity team received the Corporation of the Year award from the Women’s Business Enterprise Alliance in Texas. This accolade is added to previous awards in this area, including 2018 and 2019 when BP was named one of America’s Top Corporations for Women’s Business Enterprises (WBE) and inducted into the Hall of Fame by the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC). In 2020, the US Hispanic Chamber of Commerce also named BP Corporation of the Year.

However, BP also understand it still has much work to do in when it comes to supplier diversity as, even with all the awards mentioned above, nearly 99% of its total third party spend is with non-diverse suppliers.
